An AI website builder can put a simple site online in minutes for a few hundred rupees a month, and it suits a test idea, a portfolio or an event page. A developer costs more upfront but gives you a site you own and can move, custom features and room for real SEO work. If the site will bring you leads or sales for the next three years, the deciding questions are who owns it, whether you can take it with you, and what it costs after the first deal ends. The prices below were checked from Pakistan on 25 October 2026, on each vendor’s own page.

We build WordPress websites for businesses in Pakistan, including a 24-hour WordPress service, so AI builders are our competition. To keep this fair, every builder feature and price here comes from the builder’s own pricing or help pages, and we say where a vendor claim cannot be checked.

What does an AI website builder actually do?

You describe your business in a prompt, and the builder generates pages, layout, text and images, then hosts the result. Hostinger, for example, describes two ways of building on its AI Builder plans: “AI generation with drag-and-drop editing” and a “vibe coding prompt-based builder”, which it calls manual and agentic mode in its help pages. Wix advertises going “from prompt to website in minutes”. In both cases you get a first draft quickly; the work that is left is making the words true, specific and useful for your customers.

What do AI builders do well, and what do they do badly?

Good atWeak at
A first draft in minutes, with no design or coding skillCopy that sounds like every other business; it needs rewriting with your real services, prices and areas
Hosting, SSL and a domain in one bill: Hostinger lists hosting, domain and email as included, with the domain free for the first yearLeaving: Wix sites must run on Wix’s servers, and Hostinger builder sites cannot yet move to another Hostinger account
A low first price: Hostinger’s AI Builder Premium is Rs 599 a month on a 48-month planRenewal: that plan renews at Rs 1,699 a month, and all plans are paid upfront
Small edits by promptPrompting credits run out: Premium comes with 250 AI credits as a one-time gift (500 during the current offer), and top-ups cost extra
Standard pages: home, about, services, contact, a simple blogAnything the platform does not offer, such as a specific courier, payment or software connection, waits on the platform

Who owns an AI-built site, and can you take it with you?

This is the biggest difference, and the one most comparisons skip.

  • Wix: its help center says “In order for your site to work properly, it needs to be hosted and operated on Wix’s servers.” You can register your domain with another provider and connect it, which needs a paid plan, but the site itself stays on Wix.
  • Hostinger AI Builder, manual mode: sites can be duplicated to another plan in the same account for a fee, and Hostinger says “Moving a builder-based website to another Hostinger account isn’t available yet.” Duplication does not copy the online store.
  • Hostinger AI Builder, agentic mode: you can export the code as “a Node.js project built with React and Vite”. The export covers the front end and logic files but not your integrated backend data, cannot be imported back to continue prompting, and needs coding knowledge and Node.js to edit or to build into static files for normal hosting.
  • A WordPress site built by a developer: WordPress is open source, runs on almost any host, and its Tools > Export screen saves posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, tags and users as a file another WordPress site can import. The theme and plugins are files you can copy.

Whichever route you take, register the domain in your own name, separate from the builder or developer. Our guide on how to choose a website developer lists everything else you should own at handover.

What are the SEO limits of AI website builders?

  • AI text is allowed; thin AI text is not. Google’s guidance on AI-generated content says “Appropriate use of AI or automation is not against our guidelines”, but using it “with the primary purpose of manipulating ranking in search results is a violation of our spam policies”. Its spam policies name “Using generative AI tools or other similar tools to generate many pages without adding value for users” as scaled content abuse. A builder that writes twenty similar pages for you is a risk, not a shortcut.
  • Being found is not ranking. Hostinger’s page promises to “Appear on Google and AI search automatically”. That covers being indexable; where you rank still depends on your content, reviews and links. Google’s own advice is plain: “No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google.”
  • Code exports render in the browser. A React project builds pages with JavaScript. Google says it renders JavaScript, but that “server-side or pre-rendering is still a great idea” because it is faster “and not all bots can run JavaScript”. That matters for AI search crawlers too.
  • Local SEO needs local detail. Service pages for your city, your real address and phone, and LocalBusiness markup are work no prompt does for you; our local SEO guide for Pakistan lists them.

What does each option cost over three years?

For the builder, we used Hostinger because it publishes prices in rupees for Pakistan. Wix says its “Prices and currency vary by location”, so check the price shown in your own account. For the developer route, we used the lowest published build prices of one Pakistani agency, Website Pakistan, and Hostinger’s own entry hosting plan, so both sides use the same host.

Bar chart of three-year cost in Pakistani rupees: Hostinger AI Builder Premium 28,752, Hostinger AI Builder Unlimited with store 33,552, developer-built 5-page WordPress site with hosting from 34,152, developer-built 10-page WordPress site with hosting from 49,152
Three-year cost for a small business site, using prices published on 25 October 2026: Hostinger 48-month prepaid plans and Website Pakistan's lowest build prices plus Hostinger's Single hosting. Domain costs are the same either way and are left out.

Three things stand out. For a simple site the three-year gap is smaller than most people expect, about PKR 5,400 at the low end. The bigger difference comes later, when the builder renews at Rs 1,699 a month and the hosting at Rs 999. And the domain costs the same either way: a .pk domain is Rs 2,100 a year from PKNIC, charged every two years. A WordPress site also needs updates and backups, which you can do yourself or with a plugin such as WP Toolkit Studio at PKR 15,000 a year. Hostinger’s prices above are a promotional deal and may change. For the full cost picture, see our guide to website prices in Pakistan.

Can you start with an AI builder and move to a developer later?

Yes, but on a closed builder you move the content, not the site. Plan for it from day one:

  1. Register the domain yourself, and connect it to the builder.
  2. Keep your own copies of every text, logo and photo you add.
  3. Before you move, list every page address so the new site can redirect each one. Google says “301 and other permanent redirects don’t cause a loss in PageRank.”
  4. Rebuild, test on a private link, then switch the domain.

Your AI-built site can also be the starting point. With our WordPress website in 24 hours service you share a website or design you like, and we build your WordPress site to match it, up to 15 pages, on a private preview link within 24 hours of receiving your text, logo and images. You pay only after you approve it, and it then goes live on your own domain.

Summary

An AI website builder is the fastest and cheapest way to get a simple site online, and fine for short-lived or test sites. For a site your business depends on, a developer-built site wins on ownership, portability, custom features and local SEO, and over three years the cost gap for a small site is smaller than it looks. Keep your domain in your own name either way. If you want a WordPress site you own, matched to a design you already like, start with our 24-hour WordPress website and pay after you approve it.
