The Saudi e-visa photo is a square 200 x 200 pixel image with a file size between 5 KB and 100 KB, on a plain white background, with your face filling 70% to 80% of the frame. This tool crops, resizes and compresses your picture to those numbers inside your browser, so the file is never uploaded to us.
How to use this tool
- Take a front facing photo against a plain white wall, with even light and no shadows. On a phone, tap “Take a photo with your phone”.
- Upload it. The tool finds your face, straightens a tilted head and sizes it so your face fills 70% to 80% of the square. All processing runs on your device.
- If the wall behind you was not white, the tool turns on “White background” for you. You can switch it off, and adjust brightness and contrast.
- Check the live list next to the photo: one face, face size, centring, tilt, white background, sharpness and the file size in KB. Drag, zoom or use Straighten to fine-tune.
- Download the 200 x 200 JPG. The tool sets the JPEG quality so the file lands between 5 and 100 KB.
What are the official Saudi visa photo specifications?
The table below follows the Photo Specifications page of the official Saudi e-visa portal.
| Rule | Official value |
|---|---|
| Dimensions | 200 x 200 pixels (width and height) |
| File size | 5 KB to 100 KB |
| Number of photos | One identical photograph |
| Framing | Close up of face and top of shoulders, face 70% to 80% of the photo |
| Head size note | 1.4 x 1.6 inches from chin to crown |
| Position | Face centred, head square to the camera, both ears and cheeks visible |
| Background | White, no pattern, no shadows, no other people or objects |
| Age of photo | No more than 6 months old |
| Head wear | Generally not permitted; exceptions for religious reasons if the face is visible from chin to forehead |
How big should my face be in a 200 x 200 photo?
With the face taking 70% to 80% of the photo, your head from chin to crown should be about 140 to 160 pixels tall in the 200 pixel square. Leave a small gap above the hair and keep the top of the shoulders in frame.
Face height = 200 px x 0.70 to 0.80
= 140 px to 160 px
Margin above head about 10 to 20 px
The page also mentions 1.4 x 1.6 inches from chin to crown. That is a print measure and does not convert cleanly to a 200 pixel image, so this tool follows the 70% to 80% rule, which works for the digital upload.
Why does my file keep getting rejected for size?
A 200 x 200 JPG saved at normal quality is usually well under 100 KB, which is fine. Problems come from two directions:
- Too large: saving as PNG or at 100% JPEG quality with metadata can push a file over 100 KB. The tool exports JPEG and lowers quality step by step until it fits.
- Too small: heavy compression can drop a flat white image under 5 KB. The tool raises quality if the file falls below 5 KB.
The official page does not name a file format. JPG is the safe choice because it is what almost every online visa form accepts.
What about the Umrah and Nusuk photo?
Umrah travellers often apply through the Nusuk platform or through an agent. We could not find an official, public photo specification page on Nusuk, so this tool does not claim a separate Nusuk size. The 200 x 200 pixel white background photo above is a sensible starting point, but if the Nusuk app or your agent asks for a different size, follow what the form says.
Common mistakes
- Using a cropped passport scan instead of a fresh photo. The picture should be no more than 6 months old.
- Off white, grey or patterned walls. The background must be white with no pattern.
- Cap, hat or hair covering the face. Religious head coverings can be accepted if the face from chin to forehead is visible.
- Head tilted or turned. Keep the head square to the camera so both ears show.
- Face too small. If the head is under 140 pixels in a 200 pixel photo, zoom in.
Tips for travel agents
If you submit many Umrah and visit visa files, keep each pilgrim photo as a 200 x 200 JPG named after the passport number, and check the passport data with our MRZ scanner before you fill the form. Agencies handling groups can manage pilgrims, visas and packages in Safar Studio and read passport scans in bulk with Passport Extractor. Our guide to travel agency software in Pakistan compares the options.
Always confirm the current rules on the official Saudi visa photo specifications page before you apply.
