Published SEO packages from Pakistani agencies in 2026 start around PKR 20,000 a month for local SEO, and broader monthly retainers are commonly quoted between PKR 25,000 and 150,000, with large online stores costing more. Internationally, the most common SEO retainer is US$501 to US$1,000 a month, according to an Ahrefs survey of 439 SEO professionals. The number matters less than what it buys: technical fixes, useful pages, local SEO and genuine links, reported clearly every month.

SEO pricing is confusing because two packages with the same price can contain completely different work. This guide shows typical SEO cost in Pakistan by type of service, explains what drives the price, lists what a good package must include, and covers the red flags Google itself warns about.

How much does SEO cost in Pakistan?

ServiceTypical price (PKR)What it usually covers
Basic SEO audit (one-time)From about 5,000; a manual technical audit costs moreA list of technical, on-page and content issues to fix
Local SEO (monthly)From about 20,000Google Business Profile, local listings, core service pages, reviews and reporting
SEO retainer (monthly)About 25,000 to 150,000Technical work, content and links for competitive keywords
E-commerce SEO (monthly)About 50,000 to 200,000Category and product pages, structured data, content at scale

Ranges are from packages and price guides published by Pakistani agencies in 2026; scope varies widely between providers. For an international benchmark, the Ahrefs SEO pricing survey found that US$501 to US$1,000 a month was the most common retainer, charged by 20.4% of respondents.

Freelancer, agency or in-house: which costs less?

SEO providers charge in three ways: a monthly retainer, a fixed price per project, or by the hour. In the Ahrefs survey of 439 SEO providers, 78.2% offered monthly retainers, 48.9% per-project pricing and 34.8% hourly rates (many offer more than one). The same survey found India-based SEOs among the lowest priced, with 76% charging US$1,000 a month or less, which helps explain why packages across South Asia sit well below the global figures.

For scale: the most common global retainer of US$501 to US$1,000 a month is about PKR 140,000 to 280,000, assuming USD 1 = PKR 280. That is the top end of most Pakistani retainers, which is one reason overseas businesses hire SEO teams in Pakistan.

OptionBest forMain strengthMain risk
FreelancerOne location, a small site, a tight budgetLowest cost, direct contact with the person doing the workOne person rarely covers technical work, content and links equally well; work stops if they are ill or busy
AgencySeveral services or cities, online stores, sites that also need developmentA team with developers, writers and an account manager; paid tools includedYour account may be handed to junior staff; check who actually does the work
In-house hireBusinesses publishing a lot of content every weekFull-time focus and deep knowledge of your businessSalary plus tool subscriptions, and no backup when the person leaves

Why do SEO prices vary so much?

  • Competition. Ranking a clinic in one part of Lahore is a different job from ranking an online store across Pakistan.
  • Where your site starts. A slow site with technical errors needs repair before content and links can help.
  • Content volume. Every service, product and city page you need costs research and writing time.
  • Links and mentions. Earning genuine links from relevant sites is slow, skilled work.
  • Who does the work. A freelancer, a small team and a large agency have different costs, processes and reporting.

Is SEO worth the cost? A worked example

Judge SEO by the inquiries it must bring to pay for itself. Every number below is an assumption for illustration:

StepAssumptionResult
Monthly SEO feeA local SEO package for a clinicPKR 40,000
Profit from one new patientAfter costs, first visit onlyPKR 15,000
New patients needed to break even40,000 / 15,000About 3
Share of inquiries that book1 in 333%
Inquiries needed from search each month3 x 3About 9

If your website and Google Business Profile already bring 9 or more inquiries a month from search, the fee pays for itself, and every patient who returns or refers a friend is extra. In the first few months SEO usually brings fewer inquiries than that, which is why many businesses run Google Ads while SEO builds (see our guide to Google Ads cost per month). The case for SEO is the later months: the pages and reviews you build keep bringing inquiries without a cost per click.

Ask any provider to run this calculation with you before you sign. If they cannot tell you how many inquiries the package needs to produce, they are selling activity, not results.

What should a monthly SEO package include?

Checklist of what a monthly SEO package should include, with the proof to ask for each item
What your monthly SEO budget should buy, and the proof to ask for.
  1. Technical health: crawl errors, speed, mobile usability and indexing fixed and checked in Search Console.
  2. A keyword plan mapped to pages, so every important search has one page designed to rank for it.
  3. New or improved content every month, written for customers, with the number of pages agreed upfront.
  4. On-page work: titles, headings, internal links and structured data.
  5. Local SEO if you serve a city: your Google Business Profile, reviews and consistent listings.
  6. Genuine links and mentions from relevant sites, with a list of what was earned.
  7. AI search visibility: pages written so ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews can quote them.
  8. A clear monthly report in clicks, inquiries and calls, not only rankings for keywords nobody searches.

What are the red flags when buying SEO?

Google’s own guide, Do you need an SEO?, is blunt: “No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google”, and you should “avoid SEOs that talk about link popularity schemes or submitting your site to thousands of search engines”. Also be wary of:

  • Guaranteed rankings or guaranteed traffic numbers.
  • Secret methods the provider will not explain.
  • Hundreds of links for a small monthly fee.
  • Refusing to give you access to your own Search Console and Analytics.
  • Reports full of rankings for keywords with no buyers behind them.
  • Long lock-in contracts before any work is shown.

What can you do yourself for free?

A lot of basic SEO costs nothing but time:

  • Google Business Profile. Google says “creating a Business Profile and listing your business on Google is free” (Google Business). Complete every field, add real photos and reply to reviews.
  • Google Search Console. A free service from Google that shows the searches you appear for, your clicks, and indexing or mobile problems.
  • Your own service pages. One clear page per service, with prices or starting prices, real photos and answers to the questions customers ask on WhatsApp.

Paid SEO tools are where the cost of doing it yourself rises. On their pricing pages in October 2026, monthly billing started at US$129 for Ahrefs Lite and US$139 for the Semrush SEO plan, both with free plans as well. At USD 1 = PKR 280, one paid tool is about PKR 36,000 to 39,000 a month, which is roughly the cost of a basic local SEO package in Pakistan that already includes tool access.

How do you compare two SEO quotes?

Put the quotes side by side and ask the same questions of each:

AskA good answerA warning sign
What exactly happens each month?A list: number of pages written or improved, technical fixes, profile updates, links earned“Ongoing optimisation” with no numbers
How do you get links?Outreach, partnerships, local mentions, content worth citingBought links or packages of hundreds of links; Google’s spam policies treat buying links for ranking as link spam
Who writes the content?A named writer who interviews you and checks factsLarge volumes of generated pages; Google calls many pages made mainly to manipulate rankings “scaled content abuse”
Who owns the accounts and content? You own your Search Console, Analytics, Business Profile and every pageThe provider keeps logins or removes content when you leave
How do you report?Monthly report in clicks, calls, forms and WhatsApp inquiriesOnly rankings, or only “impressions”
What are the terms?A short first commitment, then month to month with noticeA long contract paid upfront before any work is shown

Questions to ask before you hire an SEO

Google suggests asking any SEO, among other things:

  • Can you show examples of past work and share success stories?
  • Do you follow the Google Search Essentials?
  • What results do you expect to see, and in what timeframe?
  • Do you have experience in my industry and my city or country?
  • Will you explain every change you make to my site, and why?

How long does SEO take?

Months, not weeks. Fixes to your site and your Google Business Profile can show early movement, but competitive rankings and a steady flow of inquiries usually take several months of consistent work. If you need leads this month, run Google Ads alongside; our guide to Google Ads cost per month shows how to budget them.

Some technical SEO jobs cost nothing: our free robots.txt generator and llms.txt generator build robots.txt and the optional llms.txt file in a few minutes.

Summary

SEO cost in Pakistan ranges from about PKR 20,000 a month for local SEO to PKR 150,000 or more for competitive or e-commerce work. Judge a package by the work it includes and the leads it produces, not by the price or a promise of rankings. If you want a package with a clear scope and monthly reporting in inquiries, see our SEO and AI search optimization service.
